Solar Equation is an application that allows you to control a large, animated three-dimensional maquette of the Sun. Showing at the Lumiere Festival in Durham, UK, a 14m diameter balloon floats over Durham University and shows the turbulence, flares, and sunspots seen on the surface of the Sun. This application lets you preview the algorithms used to fake the Sun and also to control it live if you are in Durham.
Requires iOS 5.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
